Document Controller

About the role

The Company CDL is seeking a Document Controller to oversee the project document management system for its real‑estate development projects in Lagos. The role ensures that all project drawings, correspondence and records are accurately captured, distributed and archived throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain the project document management system, ensuring consistent use by all team members.
• Maintain the master drawing register across all disciplines (architecture, structure, MEP, civil, specialist) and update with each issue and revision.
• Issue incoming consultant drawings to the site team, obtain transmission receipts and guarantee only current‑revision drawings are accessible on site.
• Manage withdrawal, archiving and final close‑out of superseded drawings.
• Maintain registers for RFI, Architect’s Instruction, site instruction, transmittal and formal letters.
• Control all incoming and outgoing formal correspondence, ensuring correct naming, numbering and filing.
• Support the Design and Architectural Manager with drawing status reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 4 years of document control experience on major construction projects.
• Formal document control training or certification is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a high‑volume information environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Procore, Aconex or equivalent document management platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Precise document naming, numbering and filing practices.
