Deputy General Manager, Quality Assurance & Control

About the role

Dangote Industries Limited is looking for a Deputy General Manager, Quality Assurance & Control for its Ibese Plant. Reporting to the Plant Director, the role defines, implements and oversees the quality management framework across all production stages, from raw material extraction to final product delivery, so that cement products consistently meet internal specifications, national standards and international certifications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the QA/QC team and establish a Quality Management System aligned with international standards such as ISO 9001, including an annual Quality Control Plan
• Oversee laboratory testing of raw materials, clinker, cement, oil, gas and water, and supervise calibration of laboratory and process control equipment
• Monitor chemical parameters with process control teams and investigate product non-conformances
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and industrial standards, run internal and external audits, and manage CAPA systems
• Maintain quality documentation, data management systems and traceability records
• Lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives, handle customer complaints and work with suppliers on raw material quality
• Train and coach plant staff on quality-first principles

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field; postgraduate qualification or advanced management degree highly preferred
• Professional certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Auditor or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt strongly desired
• Typically 15+ years of quality assurance and control experience in cement or heavy manufacturing
• Proven track record managing large, multidisciplinary teams in a high-pressure environment

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of cement chemistry, raw material analysis and mineral processing
• Experience with ISO systems, quality auditing software and advanced analytical tools
• Root cause analysis and risk management
