Deputy Company Secretary

About the role

We are looking for a strategic and results‑driven Deputy Company Secretary to join our Legal Team within a leading bank. The role supports corporate governance, regulatory compliance and legal risk management across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and facilitate statutory, internal and corporate compliance programmes.
• Ensure adherence to banking industry governance practices and regulatory guidelines.
• Organise and attend board, committee and shareholder meetings, providing secretarial services and compliance advice.
• Maintain statutory registers, legal records and oversee contract management, including drafting, review and execution.
• Manage dispute resolution, coordinate with external solicitors and handle customer complaints.
• Oversee issuance of bonds, guarantees and other financial instruments within SLA targets.
• Conduct legal research, provide bespoke opinions and advise senior management on risk matters.
• Facilitate property acquisition, registration and perfection for the bank and its borrowers.
• Protect the bank’s intellectual property through registration and renewal.
• Develop legal training curricula and support internal teams on external engagements.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised institution; B.L or LLM is an advantage.
• 11‑14 years of post‑qualification experience, with at least 5 years in a reputable bank or financial institution.
