Deputy Chief Technology Officer

About the role

The Deputy Chief Technology Officer acts as the technical second‑in‑command, ensuring continuity, stability, and strategic execution across all IT functions. This hands‑on leader supports the CTO, oversees day‑to‑day operations, and drives digital transformation, infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for IT infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for technical issues and ensure timely resolution.
• Oversee daily IT operations to maintain system reliability, security, and performance.
• Develop and enforce enterprise technology roadmaps, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Lead cross‑functional teams to deliver technology projects on schedule and aligned with business goals.
• Strengthen cybersecurity policies, controls, and monitoring.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost optimisation, and service delivery.
• Coach, mentor, and manage performance of IT staff to build capability.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align technology platforms with current and future business needs.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and vendors for innovation and modernization.
• Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and resource allocations for IT operations and projects.

Required profile

• HND or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 8–12 years of progressive experience in IT leadership, infrastructure management, software development or related technical areas.
• Proven track record delivering enterprise‑wide technology projects and digital transformation initiatives.
• Strong background in cybersecurity, systems architecture, and IT service management.
• Experience in fast‑paced, high‑growth or technology‑driven organisations.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
