Delivery Operations Manager - Food Delivery App

About the role

Foodrun is hiring a Delivery Operations Manager to lead rider recruitment, onboarding and daily delivery operations. The role ensures there are enough active riders, orders are picked up and delivered promptly, and operational issues are resolved quickly. It is a hands-on position requiring strong coordination, problem-solving and team management skills.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, register, verify and onboard delivery riders, and train them on the app, order handling, customer service, safety and delivery procedures.
• Manage rider activation, availability, scheduling and coverage across service areas, ensuring enough riders during peak hours.
• Monitor live orders and coordinate with riders, restaurants and customer support to resolve delays.
• Handle rider complaints, delivery incidents, failed deliveries and other operational issues, and monitor rider performance, attendance and conduct.
• Coordinate the distribution and tracking of delivery bags and other rider equipment, and work with the technical team to fix app issues affecting deliveries.
• Develop and improve procedures for onboarding, dispatch, escalation and delivery, track delivery costs and improve efficiency.
• Submit daily operational updates and weekly performance reports to management.

Required profile

• At least three years of relevant experience in delivery operations, logistics, dispatch or fleet management.
• Experience recruiting, onboarding and managing delivery riders.
• Strong knowledge of Lagos routes, particularly Lekki, Victoria Island and Ikoyi.
• Ability to manage multiple live deliveries and make quick decisions under pressure.
• Willingness to work in the field and support operations during peak periods, including weekends where required.
• Experience with a food delivery or last-mile logistics company is an advantage.

Required skills

• Comfortable using delivery dashboards, Excel or Google Sheets and operational reports.
• Strong communication, organisation and people management skills.
