Debt Recovery Officer

About the role

CredPal, a financial technology company offering credit cards and investment solutions, is hiring a proactive Debt Recovery Officer in Lagos. The role supports the organization's revenue collection and finance management, liaising directly with clients, issuing notices, negotiating outstanding payments and initiating recovery action where needed. It is a full-time, junior-to-mid level position.

Key responsibilities

• Recover classified loans and conduct regular reviews and visits to clients with loan portfolios at risk.
• Review daily all outstanding and overdue loan clients.
• Initiate prosecution of hard-core debtors in line with policy and the legal framework, and contact employers with outstanding debts.
• Negotiate, set up and monitor payment arrangements and repayment schedules; negotiate workout plans or loan rescheduling with willing debtors.
• Contact debtors by phone, letter, email or fax to agree recovery plans and follow up.
• Review contracts to assess liability and recoverability, and research debtor companies and relevant laws to advise clients.
• Maintain recovery statistics and reach amicable solutions tailored to each case.

Required profile

• BSc/HND in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Statistics or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of debt recovery experience in the financial sector, with previous successful loan recovery.
• Willingness to resume immediately.

• Strong negotiation, communication (written and oral) and telephone manner.
• Assertive but professional approach to debtors and clients.
• Planning, organization, time management and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Able to work both within a team and independently.
