Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

CloudPlexo is seeking a motivated Cyber Security Engineer to join its security practice. You will work alongside senior consultants to deliver assessments, support client engagements, monitor threats, and help clients strengthen their security posture.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on client networks, applications, and systems.
• Perform security gap analyses and risk assessments using frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS Controls.
• Monitor security alerts with SIEM tools, investigate anomalies, and support incident response activities.
• Assist clients in implementing security controls, policies, and best practices.
• Deliver security awareness training and respond to client queries on cybersecurity risks and compliance.
• Develop and review security policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans; support compliance audits (PCI‑DSS, GDPR, Kenya Data Protection Act).

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, IT or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT security.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls.
• Experience with SIEM tools.
• Proficiency with Nessus, Wireshark, Metasploit or equivalent.
• Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs).
• Familiarity with Windows Server, Linux and macOS operating systems.
