Credit Risk Manager

About the role

The Credit Risk Manager will lead the design and execution of credit risk policies for consumer loan products, including salary advances, personal loans and micro‑loans. Reporting to senior leadership, the role ensures data‑driven underwriting, portfolio monitoring and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement credit risk strategies tailored to consumer lending.
• Oversee end‑to‑end credit approval and underwriting processes.
• Lead the creation and refinement of automated credit scoring models and algorithms.
• Monitor loan portfolio performance, manage delinquency, early‑warning signals and recovery.
• Ensure compliance with CBN and other local regulations.
• Collaborate with Product, Collections and Technology teams on risk mitigation.
• Provide leadership, training and development for credit risk analysts, underwriters and monitoring officers.
• Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to assess portfolio vulnerability.
• Prepare and present credit risk dashboards and reports for executives and board committees.
• Engage with external auditors, regulators and data bureaus to enhance risk governance.

Required profile

• HND or BSc in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics or related field.
• 5+ years experience in credit risk management within consumer lending, micro‑finance or retail banking.
• Strong knowledge of consumer lending regulations and responsible lending principles.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
