Crane Operator – Ship Loading & Discharge

About the role

The Crane Operator will safely and efficiently operate ship‑side cranes at GDNL Terminal ‘E’, supporting cargo loading and discharge operations. This position is critical to ensuring timely vessel turnaround while adhering to strict safety and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate ship cranes to load and discharge cargo between vessels and quay areas.
• Conduct pre‑operation checks to verify crane functionality and safety.
• Monitor crane performance, report faults, and follow established lifting procedures.
• Communicate with supervisors and coordinate movements to avoid cargo damage.
• Maintain operational logs and comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• Exceptional hand‑eye coordination, depth perception, and spatial awareness.
• High physical fitness and visual stamina for work at heights and long shifts.
• Strong verbal communication and emotional stability under operational pressure.
• Maximum age of 35 at the time of application.
• Minimum Senior School Certificate (SSCE/WAEC/NECO/GCE).
• Valid certified Crane Operator License (preferred).
