Cost Engineer

About the role

The Cost Engineer/Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for estimating costs, managing budgets, and ensuring cost‑effectiveness of construction projects while collaborating with project managers, engineers, and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labour, and related expenses.
• Conduct thorough cost analysis and provide insights to optimise project budgets.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors and employees.
• Analyze financial data and provide reports to management to support decision‑making.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Prepare and analyse tender documents, including bills of quantities, and conduct detailed quantity takeoffs from construction drawings.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate quantity calculations and conduct periodic site visits to assess work quality and cost implications.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, civil engineering, or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in cost estimating software.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
