Corporate Accounting Manager

About the role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking an experienced Corporate Accounting Manager to lead budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance functions at its headquarters in Ibadan. This senior position will oversee both institute‑wide and centre‑specific accounting operations.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to, prepare and monitor the IITA budget and centre budgets, including capital budgets.
• Monitor inter‑centre accounting operations and produce management reports.
• Manage compliance and implementation of approved finance software as the Oracle Champion.
• Support the preparation of audited financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Prepare the annual report and oversee insurance functions.
• Supervise staff handling advances, expense claims, and fixed‑asset management.
• Oversee the Fixed Asset Module, PPE schedule, inventory finance section, freight accounting, asset disposal, and related online applications.
• Lead annual asset verification, stock counts, and ensure reconciliation of all balance‑sheet accounts.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Financial Controller and Chief Finance and Risk Officer.

Required profile

• MSc or MBA in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in a comparable senior accounting role within a well‑structured environment.
• Professional qualification: ACA or ACCA.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Oracle ERP.
• Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite.
