Compliance Officer – Microfinance Bank

About the role

The Compliance Officer for our micro‑finance bank will lead the design, implementation and monitoring of compliance frameworks that meet regulatory requirements and internal policies. Based in Benin City, this full‑time position works on‑site to protect the bank’s integrity and reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies, procedures and internal controls specific to micro‑finance banking.
• Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and monitor daily transactions for potential breaches.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports, and coordinate internal and external audits and inspections.
• Liaise with regulators and external stakeholders, ensuring timely communication and resolution of issues.
• Train staff on compliance standards and advise management on emerging regulatory changes.
• Support continuous improvement of control environments to safeguard the institution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of micro‑finance banking regulations, compliance frameworks and risk‑management principles.
• Proven experience developing policies, procedures and internal controls within a financial‑services environment.
• Ability to conduct compliance reviews, audits and investigations and produce clear reports.
• High ethical standards, integrity and sound judgment in handling confidential information.
• Professional certifications in compliance or risk management are an advantage.
