Commodity Trading Specialist

About the role

A leading food and FMCG group is looking for a Commodity Trading Specialist to join its team in Nigeria. The role involves tracking commodity price movements, assessing supply and demand trends and identifying trading and sourcing opportunities. Working closely with senior leadership, you will provide market insights and commercial analysis to support procurement planning and wider business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Track commodity price movements and assess supply and demand trends
• Identify trading and sourcing opportunities
• Develop relationships with suppliers, brokers and other market participants to support sourcing decisions and help manage commodity costs
• Provide market insights and commercial analysis to senior leadership

Required profile

• 5-10 years of hands-on experience in agricultural commodity trading
• MBA mandatory, alongside a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or a related discipline
• Based in Nigeria or willing to relocate
• Fluency in English and Hindi is mandatory
• Practical knowledge of agricultural commodities such as grains, edible oils, dairy commodities or animal feed
• Established connections with commodity traders, brokers, suppliers and other industry contacts

Required skills

• Understanding of commodity pricing, market forecasting and global supply-demand dynamics
• Strong analytical skills, commercial judgement and financial modelling capabilities
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Power BI knowledge is an advantage
