Collections Officer

About the role

CredPal, a financial technology company offering credit cards and investment solutions, is looking for a Collections Officer for its Collections department. The role manages overdue accounts and facilitates debt recovery through empathetic communication and negotiation, aiming to find solutions that benefit both customers and the company while keeping ethical standards and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Contact customers with overdue accounts to discuss outstanding payments and negotiate repayment terms.
• Maintain customer relationships while pursuing timely debt recovery and help customers find suitable solutions.
• Record and update customer interactions, payment arrangements and account statuses accurately.
• Investigate repayment ability, assess risk and analyze accounts to choose collection strategies and escalate cases as needed.
• Collaborate with internal teams on customer inquiries and disputes, and follow up on agreed repayment plans.
• Follow industry regulations and ethical practices, and prepare reports on collections activity for management.
• Improve collections processes, handle sensitive data confidentially and stay updated on industry trends.

Required profile

• HND or Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of proven experience in collections, credit control or a similar role.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, empathy, patience and resilience with customers facing financial difficulty.
• Negotiation skills, organizational skills, attention to detail and knowledge of debt collection laws and ethics.
• Willingness to resume immediately; relevant training and certifications are listed as requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency in collections software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Analytical skills to assess accounts and recommend collection strategies.
