Chief Operating Officer (COO)

About the role

A client of Elizabeth Maddeux is looking for a highly experienced and results-driven Chief Operating Officer to provide strategic leadership and oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in construction, chemical manufacturing or related industries, with a strong track record of operational leadership, project execution, team management and business performance. The position is full-time and on-site in Ikeja, Lagos.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the organization's day-to-day operations.
• Oversee and coordinate operational activities across construction, chemical manufacturing, distribution and other business functions.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, profitability and overall business performance.
• Monitor the execution of multiple projects so they are delivered efficiently, safely, on time and within budget.
• Lead, mentor and develop operational and departmental teams to achieve organizational objectives.
• Establish and monitor KPIs to track operational and business performance.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, health, safety, quality and company requirements.
• Collaborate with the CEO and senior management on business strategy.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, Industrial Management or a related discipline; an MBA or related master's degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in construction, chemical manufacturing, distribution or a related industry.
• At least 4-6 years in a senior operational or leadership role such as Operations Manager, General Manager, Project Director or Deputy COO.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects, large operational teams and complex business operations.
