Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Digital Bank

About the role

We are seeking a forward‑thinking Chief Financial Officer to lead financial stewardship and strategic direction for a newly acquired micro‑finance bank that operates as a digital wealth‑management platform. The CFO will be a key member of the Executive Management Team, reporting to the MD/CEO and working closely with the Board and EXCO.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Bank’s 5‑year strategic plan with emphasis on digital products, channels and operations.
• Drive digital transformation initiatives such as digital lending, mobile banking, agent banking and fintech partnerships.
• Identify new business opportunities, market segments and strategic partnerships for scalable growth.
• Champion a data‑driven culture using analytics and MIS to shape strategy, pricing, risk appetite and product design.
• Advise senior leadership on emerging trends in digital finance, micro‑finance and regulatory developments.
• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting (management accounts, Board packs, IFRS‑compliant statutory reports).
• Monitor P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, capital adequacy, liquidity and profitability; recommend corrective actions.
• Oversee treasury, liquidity, asset‑liability management and funding strategy.
• Manage capital planning to meet CBN MFB capital requirements and support the transition to a National MFB license.
• Develop relationships with investors, lenders and DFIs; lead equity, quasi‑equity or debt raising initiatives.
• Collaborate with Risk, Audit & Compliance to maintain a robust enterprise risk management framework.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial management and strategic leadership within banking or micro‑finance.
• Strong knowledge of CBN regulatory requirements and financial inclusion objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to lead digital transformation and technology‑driven initiatives.
• Experience working closely with CEOs, Boards and executive committees.
