Chief Baker

About the role

Abeke Pharmacy & Stores is looking for an experienced Chief Baker to lead its bakery production team. The role combines strong technical baking expertise with leadership, production planning and cost‑conscious decision‑making to ensure high‑quality products and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and supervise daily bakery production to meet sales demand and deadlines.
• Maintain consistent product quality, taste, texture and appearance across all batches.
• Standardise recipes, ingredient measurements, baking temperatures and finishing standards.
• Supervise, train and coordinate bakers and production assistants.
• Monitor ingredient usage, minimise waste and control production costs.
• Ensure food safety, hygiene and proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
• Coordinate with sales, customer service and inventory teams to fulfil orders on time.
• Maintain accurate production records and submit daily reports.
• Develop new products, improve existing recipes and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven professional experience in bakery production with hands‑on baking expertise.
• Previous experience supervising or leading a bakery production team.
• Strong knowledge of bread, pastries, cakes and other baked products.
• Ability to plan schedules, coordinate tasks and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
• Understanding of recipe standardisation, ingredient measurement, costing and waste reduction.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and proper ingredient storage.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
