Category Manager, MEP

About the role

Cutstruct is seeking a Category Manager for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) to lead strategic sourcing, procurement, and category management of MEP materials across its construction projects in Nigeria. The role ensures timely availability of high‑quality components while driving cost efficiency and supplier performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategy for MEP items such as HVAC systems, electrical components, plumbing materials, fire protection systems, and ELV infrastructure.
• Interpret Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and technical specifications to guide accurate sourcing decisions.
• Identify opportunities for category expansion, product optimisation, and supplier consolidation.
• Build and maintain a network of reliable local and international MEP suppliers, conduct performance evaluations, and negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and delivery schedules.
• Drive cost optimisation through benchmarking, bulk purchasing, and alternative sourcing strategies.
• Analyse market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply risks to recommend alternative materials that meet technical standards while improving margins.
• Collaborate with technical, operations, and sales teams to ensure sourced materials align with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor procurement status and supplier performance, providing regular reports to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic sourcing and procurement of MEP materials.
• Strong understanding of construction project requirements and BOQ interpretation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate commercial terms.
