Business Manager – Cinema Operations

About the role

The Business Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operations of Filmhouse’s Victoria Island cinema, translating the company’s strategic business plan into measurable results. Reporting to senior management, the role oversees the full cinema team, drives revenue growth, and ensures an exceptional guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and implement the strategic cinema business plan.
• Manage the entire cinema team to deliver superior customer service.
• Develop and nurture internal and external relationships to achieve business objectives.
• Identify and pursue viable opportunities for EBITDA growth.
• Prepare and manage the site budget, monitor market conditions and produce regular performance reports.
• Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies and health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Collaborate with the film‑booking department to create performance schedules aligned with business targets.
• Drive retail profitability by maximising revenue per head and minimising shrinkage.
• Control operational costs, manage third‑party contractors and oversee cash handling, banking and petty‑cash processes.
• Lead the employee life‑cycle, including recruitment, coaching, performance management and team development.
• Oversee in‑cinema marketing to maximise audience numbers and market share.
• Maintain security systems and procedures to protect cash, assets, guests and staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing cinema, retail or hospitality operations.
• Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Analytical mindset with ability to prepare budgets and performance reports.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Good understanding of market trends and competitive landscape.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet financial targets.
