Business Development Officer

About the role

The Business Development Officer will originate and close high‑value corporate, institutional and ultra‑high‑net‑worth client relationships for a leading banking, finance and insurance group in Nigeria. You will work closely with the CMO, Managing Directors and business heads to drive cross‑selling across subsidiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Originate and close high‑value corporate, institutional and HNI/UHNI relationships.
• Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of group‑level opportunities.
• Identify and pursue large‑ticket mandates such as capital raises, investment mandates and advisory engagements.
• Structure and execute multi‑product client onboarding strategies across investment, insurance, advisory and lending verticals.
• Coordinate business development activities across all subsidiaries and align efforts with group revenue priorities.
• Produce monthly and quarterly commercial performance reports and provide insights to refine growth strategy.
• Serve as lead relationship owner for key group clients, driving retention, expansion and long‑term engagement.

Required profile

• 4‑5 years of experience in sales, business development or relationship management within financial services, asset management, investment banking, lending, insurance or fintech.
• Proven track record in institutional sales, deal origination and closure of high‑value client portfolios.
• Strong ability to identify, structure and close revenue opportunities and sell integrated financial solutions.
• Deep network within corporate and institutional segments and ability to align multiple business units toward a single objective.
• Comfortable managing pipelines, forecasts, performance metrics and financial negotiations.
