Bilingual Medical Interpreter (Yoruba/English)

About the role

i-Call International is seeking a remote Yoruba‑English medical interpreter to facilitate accurate communication between healthcare providers and Yoruba‑speaking patients. This contractor position involves consecutive interpretation during medical consultations.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret medical terminology, diagnoses, and treatment plans accurately between Yoruba and English.
• Provide cultural mediation to help patients navigate the healthcare system.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics.
• Document each interpretation session with date, time, duration, and type.
• Stay updated on medical terminology and healthcare practices.

Required profile

• Fluency in both Yoruba and English.
• Prior experience in interpretation or translation.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with the healthcare environment.
• Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Stable internet connection of at least 15 Mbps download and upload.
• USB headset for clear audio.
• PC with a minimum Intel Core i5 (6th gen or newer) and 8 GB RAM.
• Wired LAN (Ethernet) connection.
• HD webcam for video calls.

What we offer

• Hourly contract rate of 7 USD per hour.
