Midwife Activity Manager (Roving) – Maiduguri

About the role

The Midwife Activity Manager is a senior‑level position responsible for overseeing maternal and child health services across multiple health facilities and LGAs in Maiduguri. The role blends clinical oversight, team leadership, programme monitoring and logistical management to ensure high‑quality patient care and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all midwives and MCH staff have up‑to‑date job descriptions and perform duties accordingly.
• Plan, organise and supervise maternal and child health interventions in health facilities according to national reproductive health policies.
• Collaborate with Medical Activity Managers, field doctors and nurses on deliveries, complicated cases and referrals.
• Monitor newborn follow‑up, coordinate referrals to the Extended Programme on Immunisation and supervise HR processes such as recruitment, training and performance evaluation.
• Work with the Field Pharmacist and logistician to manage drug stocks, track consumption and train staff on inventory control.
• Conduct regular monitoring visits, monthly data verification and financial document review, and report findings to the Technical Monitoring Manager and MEAL team.

Required profile

• BSc/Diploma in Midwifery from a recognised, government‑approved institution and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
• Minimum two years of experience as a midwife, preferably with a humanitarian organisation.
• Demonstrated ability to work in challenging environments, lead teams and ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements.

Required skills

• Computer literacy – proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and internet applications.
• Experience with donor compliance and reporting procedures.
