Backend Developer – Build Scalable Systems

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer to join Polaris Digitech Limited in Ikeja, Lagos. The role focuses on building and maintaining scalable backend systems that support our location intelligence and GIS solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the full application lifecycle, emphasizing coding and debugging.
• Develop clean, efficient, and reusable code for web applications.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing applications.
• Perform testing to optimise application performance.
• Collaborate with Front‑end developers to integrate user‑facing elements with server‑side logic.
• Gather and address technical and design requirements.
• Build reusable code libraries for future use.
• Liaise with developers, designers, and system administrators to identify new features.
• Provide technical support and training to internal teams.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging technologies and best practices.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or HND in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Backend Developer.
• Proficiency in JavaScript or Java (Spring Boot).
• Experience with RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Git and version control.
