Assistant General Manager, Mechanical (Hydraulics Specialist)

About the role

Dangote Industries is looking for a Hydraulic Specialist for its Obajana plant. The role covers operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems for FLS Coolers, IKN Coolers, Loesche VRM and OK Mills, and contributes to hydraulic engineering projects for bulk material handling equipment (stacker and reclaimer) and kiln clinker cooler systems. It also involves exposure to cement plant equipment such as stacker reclaimers, raw mills, kiln coolers and general maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic problems in stacker luffing cylinders, hydraulic hoses, directional control valves, proportionate valves, cooler hydraulic drives and VRM hydraulic systems.
• Carry out feasibility studies and assessments of hydraulic faults.
• Work with engineers to develop hydraulic designs and engineering plans.
• Evaluate risks and hazards and implement safety measures.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, simulations and modelling.
• Oversee construction and installation of hydraulic systems and inspect existing infrastructure.
• Manage budgets, timelines and resources, and liaise with clients, stakeholders and regulators on environmental compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with hydraulics training or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
• More than 15 years of experience in cement plant hydraulics operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Proven experience in hydraulic engineering, preferably in design and maintenance of hydraulic systems.
• Project management experience and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of hydraulic circuits, hydraulic notation and symbols.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and SAP modules.
• Strong mathematical and computational skills.
• Understanding of environmental impact assessment processes and regulations.
