Assistant Finance Manager

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Finance Manager to supervise senior and junior accounting staff, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and support liquidity and risk management across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise senior and junior account team members and oversee their deliverables.
• Ensure completeness, accuracy and timely delivery of accounts, finance data, records and reports.
• Complete Cognos reporting on schedule.
• Monitor internal control systems across office and warehouse sites.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Review journal entries, ledger reconciliations and trial balances.
• Prepare required accounts and finance schedules.
• Review daily and weekly reports for submission to country and group Finance Heads.
• Provide financial oversight for physical stock counts, reconciliations and shrinkage investigations.
• Analyse business costs including warehousing, freight, clearing and port logistics.
• Manage liquidity, track daily cash positions across bank accounts.
• Monitor trade financing instruments such as Letters of Credit and Bills for Collection.
• Manage currency risk and FX exposures using approved rates.
• Follow up on intercompany, stock, AR and AP reconciliation issues.
• Coordinate with finance team to assist statutory auditors.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Finance Heads.

Required profile

• HND or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field (Master’s/MBA is an advantage).
• Professional qualification: ICAN or ACCA (mandatory).
• Minimum 5 years progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Prior experience in agribusiness, FMCG, manufacturing or logistics/supply chain companies managing multiple inventory locations is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles.
