Assistant Baker

About the role

The Assistant Baker will support the head baker in producing a variety of baked goods, ensuring consistent quality and timely output. This entry‑level role is ideal for candidates with a passion for baking and a willingness to work in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Measure and weigh ingredients accurately according to recipes.
• Assist with mixing, kneading, shaping, proofing, baking, cooling, and decorating.
• Prepare trays, molds, ingredients, and equipment before production runs.
• Operate and monitor basic bakery equipment safely.
• Maintain product quality, taste, texture, and appearance.
• Monitor baking times and temperatures to avoid under‑ or over‑baking.
• Keep workstations, utensils, ovens, and mixers clean and organized.
• Check and store raw materials, reporting low or damaged stock.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Assist with packaging, labeling, and arranging finished products for display or delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum SSCE/WAEC or equivalent.
• Preferred experience in a bakery or food production environment.
• Basic knowledge of baking techniques and bakery equipment.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and sanitation practices.
• Physically fit, able to stand for long periods and work early mornings or shifts.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and time‑management skills.
