Area Sales Manager (ASM)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to lead our pharmaceutical sales efforts across Port Harcourt and the wider Rivers State region. You will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and building a high‑performing team of medical representatives.

Key responsibilities

• Own and achieve regional primary and secondary sales targets.
• Develop and execute aggressive territory plans to increase brand visibility in hospitals, pharmacies and distributors.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities across the healthcare channel.
• Recruit, train and coach a team of medical representatives, set weekly targets and monitor performance.
• Manage key accounts, maintain relationships with doctors, pharmacists, hospital management and distributors.
• Ensure product availability, minimise stock‑outs and drive secondary sales through distributors.
• Gather market intelligence on competitor pricing and promotions and provide tactical recommendations.
• Maintain accurate sales forecasting, reporting and data discipline across the region.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of pharmaceutical sales experience in Nigeria, with a proven record of meeting or exceeding targets.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and scale sales teams.
• Deep network and contacts in Rivers State and adjacent areas.
• Strong execution focus and ability to drive numbers on the ground.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership capabilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for structured sales reporting.
