Agribusiness and Livelihoods Advisor

About the role

The Agribusiness and Livelihoods Advisor will provide technical insights and advisory services to strengthen youth and women participation in agriculture value chains across selected counties in Nigeria. The role supports project managers and partners to achieve inclusive livelihood outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead deployment of sustainability and inclusive livelihood strategies, ensuring youth and women become competitive entrepreneurs and job creators in crop value chains.
• Implement agribusiness development activities at the cluster level, focusing on market linkages, services and enterprise development.
• Conduct sector assessments and market analyses of livestock and horticulture value chains to identify opportunities for rural young women.
• Develop and monitor the annual activity plan, track progress, and anticipate challenges to meet project targets.
• Facilitate technical support for market‑relevant employability training and youth‑oriented capacity building.
• Strengthen capacities of partners, coaches and stakeholders to achieve youth inclusion objectives.
• Support policy‑informed investment readiness and foster public‑private partnerships to enhance adapted‑crop value chains.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum seven years of relevant experience, including at least five years in developing and implementing multi‑sectoral projects.
• Proven experience in value‑chain development, agribusiness operations and climate‑smart agriculture in Nigeria.
• Result‑oriented, able to work with minimal supervision and meet targets.
• Willingness to travel to project locations across Nigeria.
