Africa Business Development Representative – Music Industry

About the role

The SM Records Ltd is expanding its global music distribution and rights‑management operations into Africa. We are seeking an Africa Business Development Representative based in Lagos to create and nurture partnerships with artists, labels, music companies and digital service providers across the continent.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities with African artists, record labels and music companies.
• Acquire and onboard independent artists and music catalogs for distribution.
• Build and maintain relationships with record labels, managers, publishers and DSPs such as Boomplay, Audiomack, Spotify and Apple Music.
• Represent SM Records at industry events and networking opportunities.
• Support catalog acquisition, distribution partnerships and artist/label services.
• Provide regular market intelligence and business‑development reports to the global team.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in music business, distribution, label operations or entertainment business development.
• Strong existing network within the Nigerian music industry.
• Proven track record of securing artists, labels or commercial partnerships.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building abilities.
• Ability to work independently and represent an international music company professionally.
