Advocacy and Movement Building Lead

About the role

YNCSD is seeking a senior Advocacy and Movement Building Lead to shape and execute its advocacy agenda across sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender justice, and youth empowerment in Nigeria. The role will position YNCSD as a credible voice in national and international policy dialogues, build strategic coalitions, and translate community insights into systemic change.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive advocacy and movement‑building strategy aligned with YNCSD’s feminist, rights‑based approach.
• Identify and seize advocacy opportunities within SRHR, GBV prevention, gender equality, youth rights, and humanitarian sectors.
• Monitor policy, legislative, and social trends affecting women, girls, adolescents, and marginalized groups.
• Produce advocacy briefs, policy notes, position papers, and campaign messaging for diverse audiences.
• Represent YNCSD at conferences, policy dialogues, coalition forums, and external engagements.
• Build and maintain relationships with feminist movements, SRHR networks, civil‑society coalitions, INGOs, media, donors, and government stakeholders.
• Support community‑led advocacy, grassroots mobilisation, and joint coalition campaigns.

Required profile

• Deep alignment with feminist, survivor‑centred, and rights‑based principles.
• Strong political awareness and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proven experience in senior‑level advocacy, policy influencing, and coalition building.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholder groups.
