Accounts Billing Officer

About the role

A full-time Accounts Billing Officer is sought to join the Finance team in Lagos, Nigeria. The role covers preparing and processing invoices, generating accurate bills for services rendered, monitoring outstanding payments and keeping all billing transactions properly documented in line with the organisation's policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and issue accurate invoices for services rendered to patients and corporate clients.
• Verify billing information, service charges and payment details before generating invoices, and ensure all services rendered are captured and billed.
• Review billing records to identify errors, omissions and discrepancies, and reconcile billing records with payments received.
• Follow up on outstanding bills and liaise with relevant departments on billing issues.
• Respond to billing enquiries and resolve discrepancies professionally.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records and supporting documents, and prepare billing reports when required.
• Ensure compliance with billing policies and financial procedures, and work closely with Finance, Medical Records and other departments.
• Perform other finance-related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in billing, accounts or a similar role.
• Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is an added advantage.
• Good knowledge of billing procedures, basic accounting principles and financial controls.
• Strong numerical, analytical and reconciliation skills, with excellent attention to detail, organisation and time management.
• Integrity, confidentiality and accountability, especially when handling patient and financial information.
• Good communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and ability to work with different departments and meet deadlines.
