Accountant – Fleet Cost Management

About the role

Sunrose Consulting Limited is seeking a diligent Accountant to join its finance team in Lagos. The role focuses on managing the financial aspects of the company’s fleet operations while ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial records, generate monthly, quarterly and annual reports, and reconcile ledger, bank and vendor accounts.
• Track and analyse vehicle‑related expenses, produce cost‑per‑vehicle and cost‑per‑kilometre reports, and recommend cost‑saving measures.
• Oversee billing for rentals and shuttle services, ensure accurate invoicing, reconcile payments and follow up on receivables.
• Review vendor invoices, process payments according to approval procedures, and keep vendor contracts up to date.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register for fleet vehicles, calculate depreciation, and manage spare‑parts inventory valuation.
• Ensure adherence to internal financial policies, support internal and external audits, and guarantee tax and regulatory compliance.
• Provide financial insights for operational decisions, assist in budgeting and strategic planning, and present reports to management as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ACA or ACCA is an advantage.
• Minimum five years of accounting experience, preferably in fleet, logistics or transport.
• High integrity, strong attention to detail and excellent analytical abilities.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to interpret financial data for business decisions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks or SAP.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation capabilities.
