Accountant – Finance Operations (Lagos)

About the role

Medessy Enterprises Limited, a fast‑growing transportation company in Lagos, is looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to support its finance function. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will manage accounts payable and receivable, ensure accurate financial reporting, and help maintain strong internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, general ledger entries, and periodic closing processes.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and file statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, WHT, Company Income Tax).
• Monitor cash flow, reconcile bank statements, and manage accounts payable and receivable.
• Develop budgets, forecasts and performance reports; provide actionable financial analysis to management.
• Support external auditors during statutory audits and resolve audit queries promptly.
• Strengthen internal financial controls and accounting procedures.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff where applicable.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience in a corporate environment.
• Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, ICAN or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, tax compliance and internal controls.
