Accountant cum Audit Executive – Supermarket

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant cum Audit Executive to oversee financial accounting, auditing, and compliance for our supermarket operations. You will ensure accurate reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support management in optimizing financial and inventory processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain daily accounting records for sales, purchases, expenses, and bank transactions.
• Prepare journal entries, invoices, payments, receipts and reconcile cash, bank, supplier and customer accounts.
• Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing and statutory deductions.
• Conduct regular audits of cash collections, POS transactions, store operations and inventory.
• Verify stock counts, investigate shrinkage, wastage and variances.
• Support external auditors during statutory audits and prepare audit reports.
• Generate MIS reports, ensure VAT/GST compliance and maintain proper documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
• Professional certification (CA Inter, ACCA, CMA, CPA) is a plus.
• 3‑7 years of accounting and audit experience, preferably in supermarkets, retail chains or FMCG.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and auditing practices.
• Experience with ERP systems, accounting software and POS systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Understanding of inventory management and stock control procedures.
