Wintel & Virtualization SME

About the role

The Wintel & Virtualization SME will design, build and maintain Windows Server environments across development, test and production platforms. The role requires strong security hardening, patch management and close collaboration with application, network and storage teams.

Key responsibilities

• Build and administer Windows Server environments, including OS installation, configuration and baseline hardening.
• Provision servers, join domains, apply Group Policy Objects and manage service accounts.
• Implement and maintain patching processes using WSUS, SCCM or equivalent tools.
• Configure Windows services such as IIS, Failover Clustering, DNS and DHCP as needed.
• Manage storage, disks, volumes and file sharing with SMB/NTFS permissions.
• Set up network settings, DNS, NTP, firewall rules and proxy configurations.
• Administer virtualization and cloud workloads (Hyper‑V, VMware, Azure, AWS).
• Deploy monitoring agents, log forwarding and define alert thresholds.
• Troubleshoot OS and platform issues, including performance counters and authentication problems.
• Document builds, configurations and handover procedures for BAU operations.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5+ years post‑NYSC professional experience.
• Proven experience with data migration from PowerMax 8500 to VMAX 3.
• Strong working knowledge of VMware and Unix environments.
• Hands‑on experience with large‑scale storage migrations involving approximately 449 LUNs.
