VP - Projects and Trade Finance

About the role

A fast-growing agribusiness company, active in agriculture, metal/minerals and coal and focused on building a sustainable global commodity supply chain, is looking for a VP of Projects and Trade Finance for its Nigeria office. The role covers origination and financing strategy with major commercial and development banks, operations with lenders and investors, and management of the balance sheet.

Key responsibilities

• Originate project and trade finance with major commercial and development banks in Nigeria and West Africa (Afriexim Bank, African Development Bank, NEXIM, Bank of Industries, etc.).
• Lead financing strategy (development, execution and advisory), deal origination, structuring and execution, debt capital markets, loan syndication, transactional banking, FX management and portfolio management.
• Handle finance operations with lenders, banks and investors, and manage balance sheet ratios with Accounts and Auditors.
• Train and guide finance staff, and develop and maintain finance policies and procedures.
• Advise on risk management elements and advise on ad-hoc projects.
• Contact and expand funding facilities, maintain banking and investor relationships, and handle discounting and costs of letters of credit with Operations.
• Manage data for KYC and corporate matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of experience in the banking industry.
• Chartered Accountant (CA, ACCA) preferred; a Master's degree in Finance or Accounting or an MBA in Finance is preferred.
• Experience producing budgets up to multi-millions USD and running annual audits.

• Strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Excel and financial modelling.
• Creating statutory accounts.
