Unix Storage Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Unix Storage Engineer to install, configure and administer UNIX/Linux servers in project environments. The role involves building standardized server images, hardening systems and ensuring reliable storage and network services.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain UNIX/Linux platforms (RHEL, Oracle Linux, Solaris, AIX) and associated storage subsystems (LVM, multipath, NFS).
• Provision and harden server builds, manage user/group policies, sudo and PAM controls, and enforce least‑privilege access.
• Set up and validate network configurations (IP, routing, DNS, NTP, firewall rules) and integrate with application and database tiers.
• Implement security controls including patch management, CIS‑style hardening, SSH policies, audit logging and endpoint protection.
• Automate routine administration using shell scripting and Ansible (or comparable automation frameworks).
• Manage services and daemon lifecycles (systemd/init), log rotation and basic observability.
• Monitor and tune performance of CPU, memory, disk I/O and network, and support root‑cause analysis of incidents.
• Coordinate with storage, network and security teams for firewall approvals, VLANs, load balancers and certificates.
• Document configurations, build guides, hardening evidence and support runbooks, and participate in change‑management processes.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in UNIX/Linux system administration.
• Hands‑on experience designing, deploying and supporting OLVM (Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager) clusters.
