State Coordinator – Abuja

About the role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is looking for a qualified Nigerian professional to lead the I‑Youth 2.0 programme in Abuja. As State Coordinator, you will oversee the implementation of youth agripreneur activities, manage a multidisciplinary team, and ensure alignment with workplans, budgets and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day implementation of I‑Youth 2.0 activities in Abuja.
• Supervise technical officers and field staff, ensuring high‑quality delivery.
• Coordinate training, enterprise development and incubation for youth agripreneurs in priority value chains.
• Oversee operations of the state‑based Agribusiness Park or incubation hub where applicable.
• Build and maintain relationships with state ministries, traditional institutions, private sector and financial partners.
• Collect, analyse and report monitoring and evaluation data; maintain alumni network.
• Manage state budget and procurement in compliance with IITA and donor policies.
• Prepare narrative and financial reports for the Country Coordinator.
• Ensure safeguarding, ethics and policy compliance; escalate risks as needed.
• Represent the project at meetings, events and stakeholder engagements.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences or related field.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant programme or project implementation experience.
• At least two (2) years in a supervisory or team‑leadership role.
• Experience in youth employment, enterprise development, agribusiness or agricultural extension.
• Proven ability to manage project budgets, work plans and donor‑funded activities.
• Demonstrated experience engaging state government, community structures and private sector partners.
• Familiarity with the socio‑economic and agricultural context of Nigerian states is an advantage.
