Water Treatment Plant Operator

About the role

The Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring water treatment systems to ensure continuous production of treated water that meets quality specifications. The role involves shift work, routine adjustments, and close collaboration with supervisors and maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Operate water treatment systems according to approved procedures and maintain plant availability.
• Monitor operating parameters, equipment conditions, and process variables during shifts.
• Collect water samples, perform quality checks, and verify that treated water meets specifications before release.
• Run filtration systems, monitor differential pressure, and manage chemical dosing operations.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections, identify leaks or abnormal noises, and perform basic maintenance tasks.
• Maintain plant cleanliness, follow safety procedures, use required PPE, and report unsafe conditions.
• Record operational data, complete shift logs, and communicate status during handovers.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating industrial or utility water treatment systems.
• HND certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Proven ability to follow SOPs, work shift‑based schedules, and support maintenance activities.
• Understanding of workplace safety, PPE requirements, and good sampling practices.
