Soil Testing Lab Technician

About the role

The Soil Testing Lab Technician will support Ascentech’s construction projects by collecting, preparing and analysing material samples both in the laboratory and on‑site. The role ensures accurate testing of soils, concrete, asphalt and aggregates in line with approved standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, prepare and test construction material samples, including soil, concrete, asphalt and aggregates.
• Perform laboratory soil tests such as moisture content, sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, Proctor and CBR.
• Conduct concrete tests including slump, cube preparation and compressive‑strength measurements.
• Execute asphalt and aggregate tests like gradation, density, bitumen content and Marshall mix‑design.
• Carry out field density and other on‑site material tests.
• Operate, clean, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Record results accurately and prepare detailed laboratory and field reports.

Required profile

• OND in Civil Engineering, Geology, Building Technology, Materials Engineering or related field.
• Minimum two years practical experience in soil, concrete, asphalt and aggregate testing.
• Familiarity with relevant testing procedures and standards.
• Ability to work both in a laboratory environment and on construction sites.

Required skills

• Soil moisture, sieve, Atterberg limits, Proctor and CBR testing.
• Concrete slump, cube preparation and compressive‑strength testing.
• Asphalt gradation, density, bitumen content and Marshall mix‑design testing.
• Aggregate testing and field density measurements.
• Laboratory equipment operation, calibration and maintenance.
• Accurate data recording and report preparation.
