Savings Groups Expert

About the role

Stanforte Edge is seeking a Savings Groups Expert to provide technical assistance for a national program that accelerates the formation of women’s savings groups in Katsina and Jigawa States, Nigeria. The role is performance‑based, field‑intensive and requires deep experience in women’s economic empowerment, savings‑group methodologies and community mobilisation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver step‑down training to community‑based facilitators and local‑government implementation teams on mobilisation, inclusion targeting, group formation, governance, meeting discipline and data management.
• Support the mobilisation and formation of 1,200 savings groups across local government areas.
• Conduct field visits, observe live mobilisation sessions and provide real‑time feedback and supervision using approved checklists and diagnostics.
• Produce weekly and monthly activity reports on savings‑group meetings, membership, savings and loans.
• Ensure data quality by verifying group registers, profiling tools and timely digital entry on the project management platform.
• Reinforce safeguarding and code‑of‑conduct guidelines, including prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, and promote community awareness of reporting channels.
• Document field challenges, learning gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen delivery routines.

Required profile

• First‑degree in Social Sciences, Management, Development Studies, Public Health or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in community‑based women‑empowerment programming, savings groups, livelihood or financial‑inclusion interventions.
• Proven experience in Training of Trainers, facilitation and field supervision in rural or peri‑urban settings.
• Strong knowledge of savings‑group methodologies, group governance and performance management.
