Sales Engineer

About the role

GEA is looking for a Sales Engineer in Lagos to plan and run direct marketing and sales activities within agreed budgets, focusing on growth opportunities across the region. The role centres on converting leads into project opportunities and supporting customers in optimising separation technology solutions for the energy, renewable resources and oil and gas industries.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and carry out direct marketing and sales activities within agreed budgets (order intake, sales and gross margins)
• Generate leads and convert them into project opportunities
• Meet customers and deliver sales-oriented technical presentations to clarify their needs
• Support customers in optimising GEA technological solutions for separation technology
• Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned visits and liaise with internal order processing staff
• Increase market penetration through face-to-face meetings and maintain iBase customers and business development
• Ensure customer visit reports are generated and shared with stakeholders, and carry out competitor research and market surveys
• Own the full sales cycle, from initial contact to project delivery, and keep accurate records of sales activities in the CRM
• Plan customer travel so that 60-80% of time is spent visiting customers, attending trade shows and industry events

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical degree
• 3-5 years of experience in business development, marketing and sales of engineering solutions
• Proven track record of meeting sales quotas in B2B project business, with strong negotiation skills
• Strong customer orientation and effective communication in English and French, written and spoken
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated and willing to travel
• Must reside in a Francophone country in West Africa
