Retail Manager

About the role

Scalein is hiring a Retail Manager in Lagos to run a fashion store. The role covers merchandising, budget and P&L management, sales analysis, staff leadership and customer service, working closely with the management team and buyers.

Key responsibilities

• Create an inspiring merchandising layout and a unique retail experience following ALARA brand guidelines.
• Help set annual budgets and targets, and manage the budget, P&L and KPIs.
• Maintain adequate stock levels and analyse sales figures to forecast volumes and grow profit.
• Identify income-generating opportunities and ensure business development activities are complementary.
• Work with the sales team on limited-edition commissions and multiples from exhibiting artists.
• Ensure compliance with policies through meetings, walk-throughs and audits, and recruit retail candidates.
• Support the fashion buyer, home/furniture buyer, general manager and CEO in choosing brands for the store portfolio, and turn around underperforming brands.
• Resolve customer complaints, plan in-store promotions and keep up with market trends.
• Ensure the store meets legal, health and safety guidelines and perform other assigned tasks.

Required profile

• BSc. / HND in Marketing, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Retail Manager.
• Experience in the luxury lifestyle industry is an advantage; professional certification is also an advantage.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the fashion/retail industry and good knowledge of sales software.
• Good data entry skills and ability to create detailed spreadsheets, charts and presentations.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including preparing management reports and correspondence.
• Strong time management, organisation, negotiation and communication skills.
