Research Associate - Investment Research

About the role

Comercio Partners Limited, a Nigerian financial services firm trading fixed income securities and equities and offering financial advisory and asset management services, is hiring a Research Associate in Lagos. Reporting to the Head of Research, the associate supports investment management, advisory and capital markets activities by producing financial, economic, industry and company research that informs investment decisions, identifies growth opportunities and strengthens the firm's market position.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse financial statements, economic indicators, market data, valuation metrics and industry dynamics to identify opportunities and assess risks.
• Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, valuation analyses and analytical tools for investment appraisal and transaction structuring.
• Produce research reports, investment memoranda, market intelligence briefs, presentations and periodic updates for management, investment teams, clients and other stakeholders.
• Support investment due diligence by gathering and analysing financial, operational, commercial and industry information.
• Collaborate with investment management, portfolio management, advisory and business development teams.
• Maintain research databases, financial models and market intelligence resources, and present findings clearly to senior management and clients.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics or another relevant discipline.
• At least five years of relevant experience in investment research in the capital markets space.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, investment instruments, valuation methods, macroeconomic indicators and corporate financial analysis.
• Demonstrable experience in financial modelling, company valuation, investment analysis and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data.
• Progress towards or possession of relevant professional qualifications is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Capital IQ, Power BI, SQL or comparable platforms is an advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong analytical and critical thinking, and attention to detail.
