Regulatory Compliance Manager

About the role

EY is hiring a Regulatory Compliance Manager in its Tax Practice in Lagos. The team helps clients meet their compliance obligations, avoid penalties and minimise tax burdens. The role suits someone who wants teaming, leadership and career advancement.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on multiple and challenging regulatory and tax advisory engagements and contribute to innovative tax and regulatory planning ideas.
• Research legal and regulatory matters, assess the impact of legislative changes and best international practices, and draft tax alerts on legislation, policy statements or judicial decisions.
• Lead recommendations and solution implementation plans, and suggest practical solutions to clients.
• Support clients with regulatory compliance, including preparing and submitting regulatory filings such as annual returns and responding to regulatory circulars.
• Help clients obtain licenses, liaise with regulators and keep policies up to date.
• Identify and escalate compliance risks, monitor agreed action points and manage clients' compliance obligations.
• Identify opportunities to sell refund and recovery services and collaborate on business development in specific industries.
• Apply indirect tax knowledge to client situations and maintain effective client relationships.
• Coordinate training and capacity-building for the team on compliance and regulatory developments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in law (at least a second-class upper division).
• At least 6 years of relevant regulatory compliance experience, or equivalent experience in business or industry.
• Excellent managerial, organisational and written communication skills.
• Ideally: ability to thrive in a fast-paced professional services environment; mature, proactive, committed and highly motivated.
