Quality Control Manager – Steel & Mining

About the role

Our client in the steel and mining sector is looking for an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead the quality function, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications and regulatory requirements. The role involves driving quality assurance initiatives, overseeing welding and material testing, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve quality control policies, procedures and systems.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, NEN‑ISO, customer and regulatory quality standards.
• Prepare and execute quality plans for manufacturing and processing activities.
• Coordinate welding inspections, material testing and qualification of welding procedures.
• Review, validate and issue quality documentation and certifications.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Lead, mentor and supervise the quality control team, manage performance and training.
• Prepare periodic quality performance reports and present recommendations to senior management.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and operations to improve product quality and efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 10‑15 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within steel, mining, heavy manufacturing or fabrication.
• Proven track record of leading quality teams and managing budgets.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to drive continuous improvement.
