Project Manager - Oil & Gas, Pipeline and Infrastructure

About the role

B A Gladiators is recruiting on behalf of a project management consultancy that plans, manages and delivers projects for its clients across oil & gas, pipeline construction, building construction and infrastructure, including EPCM contracts. The Project Manager joins the core team and leads each assignment from planning to close-out, remaining the single point of accountability for safe delivery on schedule, within budget and to the required quality.

Key responsibilities

• Plan projects: define scope, objectives, deliverables, assumptions and constraints, and develop the execution plan, WBS, milestones and success criteria
• Control budget and resources, and take corrective action on cost overruns
• Build realistic schedules with milestones and critical path, track progress and run recovery plans for delays
• Maintain an active risk register with mitigation and contingency plans
• Keep departments and stakeholders informed, and update the client and senior management on progress, risks and key decisions
• Ensure quality through control and inspection, obtain client acceptance and capture lessons learned
• Keep project documentation, approvals, change orders and close-out reports accurate and auditable
• Lead the project team, allocate work and monitor performance
• Enforce HSE compliance with Nigerian regulations and industry standards, and promote a proactive safety culture
• Advise clients on planning, controls, governance and delivery, and recommend improvements

Required profile

• B.Eng/B.Sc in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Petroleum or related), Project Management or a related discipline
• 5-12 years of project delivery experience, including 4-5 years managing major oil & gas, pipeline, building or infrastructure projects
• Experience across more than one sector, and in a consultancy or advisory role, is a strong advantage
• Proven record of delivering projects end to end, with examples of projects and results
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification is a strong advantage
• Willingness to travel and spend time on project sites

Required skills

• Planning, cost control and scheduling (MS Project or Primavera P6)
• Leadership of multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and vendors
• Knowledge of HSE standards and Nigerian regulations for oil & gas, construction and infrastructure
• Client-facing consulting skills, clear communication and independent, self-driven work
