Programme Delivery Associate - Distributor Credit

About the role

Scalein is hiring a Programme Delivery Associate to own the on-the-ground delivery of a new distributor-credit programme in one of three states: Lagos, Edo or Kano. The programme gives formal capital to FMCG distributors' micro-retailers, so distributors can back more retailers than their own cash allows. The role is field-based, spending much of the week at distributor depots and in open markets, and keeps the programme neutral while protecting data.

Key responsibilities

• Build the distributor pipeline: find and qualify large FMCG distributors, pitch them directly, run onboarding from first meeting to signed agreement, and track progress and blockers.
• Keep two lending models running: support drawdowns, retailer sign-up, disbursement, collections and reconciliation, and resolve on-the-ground issues.
• Grow the number of micro-retailers using credit through distributors, with attention to reaching women retailers.
• Provide clean, accurate, timely data and documentation, working closely with the Programme Analyst so field observations match programme reports.
• Track state targets on schedule, report what the pilot teaches, and keep every conversation and distributor data neutral and confidential.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 4-7 years of experience in business development, sales or trade operations, microfinance or SME banking, FMCG distribution, or field-based programme delivery; experience selling to or working with distributors, agents or small business owners is a strong signal.
• Based in, or willing to relocate to, the chosen state, with knowledge of the local trade environment and fluency in the relevant local language.
• Proven track record of building business relationships from scratch to a signed agreement.

Required skills

• Comfort with how credit works, or quick ability to learn it; assessment, disbursement, collections and reconciliation do not intimidate.
• Ability to keep a pipeline moving, follow up on what is owed, and find another route when blocked.
• Attention to clean records and discretion with sensitive business data.
