Packet Core & Cloud Infrastructure SME

About the role

Ericsson is looking for a Packet Core & Cloud Infrastructure Subject Matter Expert to design, deploy and operate telecom packet‑core systems on virtualised and cloud‑native platforms. You will combine deep telecom core knowledge with cloud operations expertise to deliver resilient, scalable 4G and 5G services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage cloud infrastructure that supports packet‑core functions.
• Deploy and maintain virtualised network functions on OpenStack and Kubernetes.
• Oversee the full infrastructure lifecycle: installation, upgrades, patching and scaling.
• Ensure high availability, redundancy and disaster‑recovery readiness.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning and resource optimisation.
• Lead troubleshooting across network, compute, storage and virtualization layers.
• Drive automation through DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code.
• Monitor systems with industry‑standard tools and enforce security, hardening and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with vendors, RAN, transport and IT teams, and manage incident escalation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in telecom core networks and cloud infrastructure.
• Proven ability to work in 24/7 production‑critical environments.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of cellular network core architectures and signalling protocols.
• Hands‑on experience with OpenStack and Kubernetes.
• Expertise in cloud compute, storage and networking.
• Proficiency in DevOps and Infrastructure as Code.
• Design of high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Security hardening and compliance implementation.
