Network Engineer – WireGuard Mesh & Cellular Connectivity

About the role

Seismic Consulting Group is seeking a Network Engineer with strong production experience to design and operate the network infrastructure that connects field edge devices to the central platform. The role is hands‑on, focusing on building a stable, encrypted, and resilient connection across diverse field environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and operate a WireGuard mesh network linking edge devices to the central platform.
• Manage cellular backhaul and multi‑network failover configurations for the device fleet.
• Implement network security controls, including firewalls, traffic inspection, and end‑to‑end encryption.
• Collaborate with operators to provision VLANs for production site deployments.
• Integrate network health monitoring into the central observability stack using telemetry and logs.

Required profile

• Strong practical experience with WireGuard‑based mesh networks and familiarity with NetBird or Tailscale.
• Hands‑on experience configuring SIM‑based connectivity, APN settings, and multi‑network failover.
• Proficient in Linux networking tools such as iptables, ip route, netplan, and network namespaces.
• Experience deploying VPN solutions (WireGuard, OpenVPN, IPSec) in production environments.
• Solid understanding of firewalls, network segmentation, and encryption from design to implementation.
• Ability to monitor network performance, set alerts, and diagnose issues remotely across distributed devices.
